Description:

"Having control of your cloud environment" is a statement more easily said than done. Regardless you are in the process of migrating to the cloud or starting a brand new journey with cloud-native, it is a technology paradigm shift. In the beginning when the workload and the architecture landscape are fairly simple, you think you know what is going on. When the scope and complexity start to grow with more resources being onboarded and more people being involved, this control could be at risk of slipping between your fingers without you even being aware.

Of course we all want to prevent this from happening. This is why cloud governance is a very important topic. The strategy shall be already considered from the start and the execution shall be continuously evaluated throughout the journey.

In this workshop we will go through the strategies, tooling and best practices when it comes to governance on the Azure platform. With the correct implementation you will gain the confidence that your environment, or your customer's environment is demonstrating visibility, consistency and scalability.

Agenda:

During the session we will cover the following topics with lectures and demo:

  • An overview of what Azure governance is, why it is important and what are some common customer challenges.
  • How to build a management hierarchy and to ensure resource consistency (management group, structure building, RBAC)
  • How to use resource tagging to increase traceability.
  • Enforce cooperate standards on the platform using Azure Policies.
  • Use Azure Blueprint to repeatedly deploy environments following standards.
  • How to monitor your cost using Azure Cost Management.
  • Azure Lighthouse - how can the partners manage their customers in a single pane of glass.
  • Briefly mention the other platform capabilities such as Azure Advisor, Azure Security Center, Azure Monitor, etc.
